Weidmüller GTI Software was founded in 1987 by Achim Schreck in Neustadt am Main. In 1996, the business premises were relocated to Georg-Mayr-Straße 9 in Marktheidenfeld. The logistical framework conditions were thus considerably improved and the motorway access was practically on the doorstep. This was a prerequisite for further growth and, together with the company's own spacious garden, created a beautiful atmosphere for the subsequent 10th anniversary celebration.
In June 2018, the Weidmüller Group acquired a majority stake in GTI-control mbH and GTI-process AG. In 2021, the software expertise of the two companies was bundled into a pure Software Business Unit.
